Bruny Island Infrastructure

To support the launch of the Bruny Island Destination Action Plan, Pennicott Wilderness Journeys has pledged $50,000 to fund the development of infrastructure on the island. This funding has been matched by Kingborough Council and the Tasmanian Government, providing a pool of $150,000 to be spent on infrastructure projects to improve the visitor experience on the Island. A Destination Action Plan Leadership Group (with representation from key community groups) is responsible for selecting the projects based on their alignment with the priorities outlined in the Destination Action Plan.

Projects completed include:

• Grass Point and Fluted Cape –  walking track upgrade and maintenance
• Dennes Point Heritage Trail – construction and compilation of information for interpretation panels
• Hanssons Beach and Two Tree Beach – carparks upgraded and resurfaced
• Barnes Bay –  installation of picnic furniture and a historic interpretation sign
